100 kg rice, 100 kg lentil, 150 kg potatoes and 300 kg of spinach -- this is what the kitchen in the Commonwealth Games Village consumes everyday.

The favourite among foreign athletes is parathas and pastas and on an average day, 600 parathas are being consumed by the delegates at the facility.

According to Executive Chef Jatinder Uppal, some athletes and officials have turned veggies.

“The fast consumed items remain parathas -- around 600 a day -- and pastas. Every foreign athletes have taken a fancy for parathas,” Uppal said adding Punjabi dishes, cooked in less oil, and anything less spicy is liked by all.

“Of course most of them are Punjabi dishes. but since the international athletes do not prefer a lot of spicy, oily food like Indians, we have tweaked the recipe to suit them as well and the feedback is that they like it,” he said.
