Vepam poo rasam is ideal for summer as it keeps the body cool. Neem flowers have a lot of medicinal value. In particular, This dish, in particular is extremely good for diabetics. I learnt this recipe from my octogenarian mother. people and they can take it in the form of soup. Neem flowers as such, are quite bitter in nature. But in this form, it is exceptionally delicious and appetizing!
What you need
Dried Vepam Poo (Neem flowers) – 2 tbsp
Tamarind – 1 small lemon size
Tomato – 1
Salt – to taste
Asafoetida
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Red chilly – 1
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
Cooking instructions
Pour tamarind puree in a vessel.
Add salt and asafoetida.
Slice tomato into small pieces and add, along with curry and coriander leaves.
Boil the solution for 10 minutes on medium flame.
In a pan, add ghee, mustard seeds and red chilli.
When the seeds start crackling, crush the neem flowers with your hand (so that people won’t get to know that they are neem flowers and will consume it) and addadd it to the pan and fry.
Transfer the fried neem flowers to the tamarind solution.
Serve vepam poo rasam Vepam Poo Rasam is ready! It is very tasty when served with hot ghee and rice.
