Delhi’s temperature has been quite unpredictable during the last week. Most of the times it was damn hot but just to tease Delhiites sometimes it drizzled as well.

One such day I visited SOY at Khan Market to taste their offerings from their new menu for a lunch. It is one restaurant where I like to dine quite often for its ambience and comfy sofas on the air conditioned terrace.

To start with I ordered a nice chiang mai soup bowl which was an interesting preparation. Crunchy noodles on top went very well with the soup and added to the texture. Even the starters to follow were quite interesting but the non-availability of dim sums just disappointed me as these are the USP of SOY for me. I look forward to their har gao every time I visit. The Wasabi Prawns filled the void of dim sums to perfection .They were good and had a subtle balance of wasabi not hitting too much. Lamb tossed in coriander and cumin was delicious and I finished the whole serving. Especially cumin gave the tender lamb shreds a nice flavour.

What was noticeable during the whole course was the use of good ingredients . Even the sauces made quite a difference . From the flaming wok section I had fish in holy basil and chilli sauce but found it to be slightly under seasoned. Spring rolls the only vegetarian dish on my table failed to impress me as they were very dry from inside.

Just before the main course, chi chi a nice refreshing mocktail made out of mint and lime needs a special mention. I am sure I will go back for it again. I should say that their service has improved a lot and the food was on my table within minutes.

Yam malay supposed to be spicy noodles with coconut flavour was tasty but I would have preferred it a tad spicier. Tofu in lemon garlic chilli sauce and kung pao chicken with steamed rice helped me to end. I found the kung pao way too sweet and viscous. Tofu was nice having the tanginess of lemon dominating the garlic flavour. Not much was available in the desserts and I settled with a glass of tab tim grob.
