Ana wants to get something nice for the parents' wedding anniversary. But everything costs money and that is something she does not have! That’s when she and her friends find shells in the school sandpit. So Ana and her friends start picking them up. The idea is that Zain’s gift is a plastic bowl he has painted and Ana would fill them with these beautiful shells! She even had a perfect card — or rather one she thought was perfect. She had drawn a picture of a butterfly and one of the wings was real!
At the party they have one guest that makes heads turn and cause a lull in the conversation. It is Dr. Dhondy. He was a very “famous bug man”. But when he takes notice of Ana’s handmade card with the real butterfly wing on it, the kids are a bit suspicious. His repeated questioning of where she found the wing does not make things easier. And to top it all, when all the guests had gone, Ana discovered that the butterfly wing on her card was missing!
This is the third book in the Zain and Ana series.
