Infotainment abounds

The Hindu Young World Summer Smart Camp held in Hyderabad, last week, was a hit with participants and parents alike.

This was a summer camp with a difference. Five days and covering six subjects the fun-filled sessions were highly enjoyable.

The Hindu Young World’s Summer Smart Camp, held last week had over 250 students participate from across Hyderabad.

The camp was held at Sister Nivedita School, Gitanjali Devshala and Fiitjee World School. Various sessions were held on quiz, english, theatre, photography, robotics and art.

“I really liked robotics and photography sessions. I got to build my own robot model. I also got to learn a lot of photography techniques. The camp was helpful and I want to continue taking good pictures with the techniques taught to me. I want to attend the camp again if it is held next year,” said 13-year-old Nishita of Sloka Waldorf School.

The participants were divided in two batches. While those between 8 years and 10 years were clubbed in the basic category, those in the age group of 11 years to 13 years were part of the advance category.

“I made many friends in the camp. The teachers were also good and patient with us. This camp was very different from the others I attended before and I learnt a lot in these five days,” said B. Akhil who is a Std. VI student of DAV Public School, Kukatpally.

The participants had a great time learning the ropes of theatre by working on their facial expressions and voice modulation. They also honed their english were given tips and exercises on basics of grammar, idioms and others.
