In keeping with the promise that the school had made a year ago, of protecting and conserving the environment, the students of Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, distributed saplings of “neem” among the residents of the nearby Shantipuram Colony. Speaking on the occasion, school Principal Sunitha, outlined briefly the activities of the school under the SEED (Student Empowerment for Environment Development) programme. She urged the residents to co-operate with the school in all its activities in connection with the protection of the environment.

Darul Uloom Vocational Higher Secondary School felicitated Sijimol, faculty member and Shahariyar, student, who won the State best teacher coordinator and best student coordinator awards respectively among the school tourism clubs in the State. K. P. Dhanapalan, MP, presented mementos to the award winners on the occasion. Mohammad Babu Sait, school manager, presided. Dominic Presentation, MLA, M. K. Sanoo, noted critic, and P. A. Mehboob, president of the Parent Teachers Association, attended.

Shakti, the women's wing of Vijnana Bharati , organised a ‘Kalpana Chawla study class' for students in Stds VIII to XII aimed at stepping up their scientific awareness and aptitude. A release issued by the organisers said that the programme also intended to attract more students in to the field of science and research on various scientific topics.
