I am thankful to my teachers, who persuaded us to make New Year resolutions to attain our goals as students. I gave considerable thought to the matter to see that my resolutions do not become just dreams that can be erased from my mind. Many ideas unfolded itself before me like a scroll. I would feel happy and blessed if I did something nice for my parents. I also thought that I should free my mind from fear of any sort.
Many more such ideas came to me. I was determined to make myself a better reader.
Then I shared my resolutions with my friends. Of course, I never told anyone about my decision to make reading a habit because I was a bit embarrassed to say that I didn’t read much.
Today, I am happy that I have kept my resolutions. At the end of the first month of this year, I was confident that I can be a good reader. I have finished reading two books. My search for more books continues.
I am proud that I could awaken the reader in me, who was in deep slumber. I have also realised that reading widens my horizon and raises my spirits. It gives wings to my imagination.
Books and newspapers have become my new friends!
