Pearls of joy

January 05, 2010 09:00 pm | Updated 09:00 pm IST

A golden bird lived in a jungle. She sang beautifully. Whenever she sang, shiny pearls fell from her beak. One day a hunter spread a net and she was caught. He took the bird to his house and kept it in a silver cage. He was greedy for the pearls. He gave the bird tasty food. However she was unhappy and she did not sing and the hunter did not get any pearl.

After some days the hunter gifted the bird to the king. The king presented the bird to his daughter. The princess was very kind hearted. She opened the door of the cage and freed the golden bird. The bird was very happy and it started singing again and pearls fell all around her. The princess gave them to the poor in the kingdom and everyone blessed her. The bird did not go away from her. She came to the princess and joined her and it was a joyous company.
