The National Green Corps conducted Umbrella Rallies in 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh on the importance of the Ozone layer and its role in protecting the Earth. “Students from St. Ann's, Bolarum; Vidyaranya Primary School, Habsiguda; Keshav Memorial School, Narayanguda; and Little Flower School, Uppal, participated,” informs Mr. G. Prabhakar, NGC Coordinator Hyderabad district.
“Ozone layer is depleting rapidly with the release of harmful gases across the globe. To create awareness and to protect the ozone layer World Ozone Day is held.” explain Sushma and Vaishnavi of Amaravathi Talent School. Shubham of Std. V from Tejaswi Vidyaranya School, says, “it's important to protect ozone layer as it protects us from the harmful UV rays.”
So what can one do to protect ozone layer? One major step is to prevent usage of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) such as CFC's. Use products which are labelled “Ozone Friendly”. Buy refrigerator or ACs which are CFC free. Keep your air conditioner clean because if it doesn't function properly then it will release CFC into atmosphere.
