I visited the bird sanctuary at Vedanthangal recently. Located at Chengalpet, the best time to visit is between November and March. It’s the place to be in if you love birds especially the migratory birds.
There are many types of birds here like pelican, white heron, black heron and many more. At the entrance of the sanctuary, you can buy local food like vada, bajji and sweets. Last year, I enjoyed viewing the birds through a pair of binoculars given by forest department, in the watch towers.
However, this year, the binoculars were not provided. I request the forest department to provide binoculars for children. I have understood the importance of nature after visiting this place. It’s a must visit place if you are in Chennai or travelling to Chennai.
