There was once a village near a forest. Half the villagers depended on agriculture as a means of livelihood and the other half cut trees. The farmers sold their produce and the woodcutters sold wood at the market. There was also a river nearby that was the main source of water.
Years later, the forest was slowly being destroyed. Animals ventured into the village and attacked people and their cattle and destroyed the crops. Eventually, the forest cover disappeared, the river dried up and there was less rainfall. People began protesting and a group of researchers were sent to study the affected area. It was found that the problem was a result of deforestation. The reports were sent to the Environmental Research Council and it conducted awareness classes for the people. The villagers realised their mistake and planted a sapling each.
