Grainy in the dark

March 25, 2013 04:50 pm | Updated 04:50 pm IST

One day I went to the ration shop to buy sugar and was stunned to see the shopkeeper measuring objects in candle light. The room was quite dark and there was no ventilation. The shopkeeper said that the bulb was fused. He asked someone to replace it. I felt sorry that he had to work in such a place that was surrounded by sacks of grain, making it difficult for everyone to breathe. No wonder they frown at customers. It is high time that the Government provided windows and exhaust fans in these shops.
