My Dussera holidays had just started. I was excited as I was going on a fishing camp with some friends and their parents.
The camp was held in the outskirts of Bangalore. We drove down to the place.
We reached the camp at 11.30 in the morning and learnt some theory on fishing. Then we were given fishing rods and taught how to set it up.
We learnt a method called overhead casting. We went up to the lake and learnt to cast the line. The bait was made of husk and rice.
My first catch was Mahseer and it weighed about 750 gms. Landing the fish was indeed a tough job. The other fish we caught included Calabasu, Rohu and Catla. We were taught how to release the fish back into the water.
We learnt about snakes and birds too. We saw photographs of cobras and rat snakes, and identified a number of birds during the walk around the camp.
In the evening we learnt how to build a campfire. It was so much fun. We burnt marshmallows on the camp fire.
It was one of the best days of my life and I am looking forward to the next one.
