Clean-up act

January 22, 2015 04:54 pm | Updated 04:54 pm IST

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. Inspired by this, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the ‘Swacch Bharat’ campaign. The objective of this campaign is to make our country clean and hygienic. To put it simply, it means that we should keep our house, schools, colleges, hospitals and surroundings clean.

I used to be careless and littered my surroundings. I found the idea of ‘Swacchh Bharat’ innovative and inspiring. I have now stopped throwing garbage everywhere. I even advise my neighbours and friends to keep their surroundings clean. It does hurt to see people dumping garbage so carelessly. We must think of our actions and how it would affect people around us. Swacch Bharat is for our own good.
