Fine dining and fine living this is. The new Versace store at Emporio in Vasant Kunj has, for the first time, launched the Versace home collection – an assortment of Versace's classic tableware and furniture pieces bearing the famous head of Medusa (the beautiful Greek maiden cursed with ugliness, who later became the fashion house's logo).
Trademark lines like Medusa Blue, Medusa Silver, Medusa Platinum, Medusa White, Barocco, Vanity, Le Jardine (a bright flowers-and-butterflies line), Greco, Dedalo and Primavera (in primary colours red, blue and yellow) are now available. Crystal, the focus of Versace Home 2009, finds representation too.
Also on display are select furniture pieces, like dinner and centre tables and patent leather sofas. The Medusa, again, makes her presence felt, either in the form of the lone sterling silver button glistening among the leather-encased ones on the white button-tufted leather sofas or capping the table legs that support a glass top. Fur cushions from the minimalist Dedalo line complete the picture of decadence. And all proudly flaunt the ‘Made in Italy' tag.
“We've introduced a few pieces from the different lines initially. Depending on customer demand, we will be expanding the lines. If it takes off well, we might even come up with an independent store for the home collection. Also, we're looking at adding to the sale value for customers,” said Abhay Gupta, executive director, Blues Trading Company, which has launched the Versace flagship store at Emporio.
