The fourth edition of >The Hindu MetroPlus Theatre Fest is set to enthral Bangaloreans this month. Three plays, Abhishek Majumdar’s The Djinns of Eidgah , Tale of Haruk by performance group Tuida and Adhir Bhat’s and Bobby Nagra’s Some Times will be staged between August 16 and August 18 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.
The Djinns of Eidgah

The festival opens with >The Djinns of Eidgah , presented by Rage Prdouctions, Mumbai. Written by the award-winning playwright Abhishek Majumdar, "The Djinns of Eidgah is about two siblings, Ashrafi and Bilal, stranded in the tragic impasse of Kashmir"
Tale of Haruk
Director: Bae Yo-Sup
Next up is >Tale of Haruk , presented by Performance Group Tuida, Korea in association with AsiaNow Productions. There once lived an old couple. There was no one else except them and they were lonely. So they prayed for a child. One day, the Spirit of the Tree granted the old couple’s wish by giving them child named Haruk. The old couple did everything they could for Haruk, except give him cooked rice, as the Tree of Spirit forbade them to. Haruk grew up rapidly.
But one day he craved for cooked rice and begged the old couple to give him some. They relented and gave him some cooked rice. But after eating it, Haruk feels extremely hungry. He eats more and more but nothing can satiate his hunger.
He eats everything in the world, but he still feels hungry. He is tired of his hunger and loneliness and returns home to the old couple. But he cannot meet his parents because he is too big. The old couple finally give him their bodies, and it’s only then that his hunger stops.
Some Times
Director: Adhaar Khurana
The festival concludes with >Some Times , presented by Akvarious, Mumbai. Some Times tells the story of Paramjit Singh Duggal. He has a lot to deal with: His mother wants grandchildren; his father wants him to join the family business; his boss expects way too much from him, but pays too less; his girlfriend wants commitment and he owes a mysterious man called Joseph some money.
But Paramjit, a.k.a Pammi, a.k.a Doggie a.k.a Parmeetay has friends — top class weed, an affinity for whiskey and a night life that would even put Batman to shame. And because of all this, he has very little time…
