The play ‘Maamiyar65@hotmail.com,’ staged recently at Rasika Ranjana Sabha, Tiruchi, brought to light the problems faced by senior citizens at the hands of their children in the existing lifestyle. The youths, racing against time to earn more money, seek out the best employment opportunities in foreign countries and in the process become too self-centered and care little about their parents. With no alternative, their aged parents, remain a mute spectator to the developments and suffer the ordeals.

“The drama aims to sensitise the youths to take serious attention to the health and personal needs of their parents,” said George, an artist, who inaugurated the play.

Produced and directed by Kovai Padmanabhan, the play has script and dialogue penned by Kovai Anuradha. The artists, especially those who donned the roles of the parents and the marriage broker, gave impressive portrayals.

The title has been chosen to convey the message to youngsters that how they run after money at the cost of their parents’ happiness, and also to make them aware of the sufferings endured by the aged persons.
