Composer, lyricist and singer Anand Raj Anand who has given hit songs in films like “Masoom”, “Kaante” and “Welcome” is all set to impress once again as after a lull period he has composed songs in Sunny Deol’s “Singh Sahab the Great” releasing later this month.

Despite of his busy schedule, Anand takes out time to talk about his upcoming songs and competition with other singers.

You have composed all the songs of the film while Sonu Nigam, who is involved with only one song, seems to be getting more publicity.

Well, I am not at all jealous or feeling envious about this as this is our work and we have to cooperate with each other during work and otherwise as well. I am very happy for Sonu as he has composed one song and has tasted what composing music is all about.

Do you feel that item songs are taking over melody in film music?

Trend changes as time changes and the singer and composer need to be versatile enough to adapt themselves according to the mood.

Is singer getting more importance than composer?

No, I would not at all agree with this statement. The media should understand a composer’s feeling and consider us as important as singer because composers are the real factor behind any song. He’s the one who gives shape to words, makes it complete.

What would you say about the excessive influence of electronic music?

There in no harm in using technology at all, time has changed and modern technology is used all over which is saving our time without affecting the soul of songs.

Do you feel the a competition between you and the new lot of composers like Sneha Kanwalkar and Amit Trivedi, who have come up with a fresh take on film music?

No, I never had such a feeling in me because I feel everyone is different with a special quality and what other can is not possible for me to create and vice versa.
