Different genres of music will come together for Cause Events & Sky Kommercials’ seven-day festival titled “Saptha Rasa,’ from December 2 to 8, 6.30 p.m., at Rani Seethai Hall. The festival will raise funds for Need Trust, an NGO which supports disability empowerment. The schedule is as follows:
DEC 2:Contemporary Music – Sathyabodhi, featuring musicians Paul Jacob, Satyanarayanan, Donan Murray, Venkat, Ila and Swaminathan, will break barriers between Folk, Classical, Rock, Jazz, Blues and Country, creating a genre of its own.
DEC 3:Folk and Fusion – A Ruhaniyat show featuring Red Earth Cycle, a team of Baul musicians from Bengal, will explore spiritual folk fusion.
DEC 4:A Journey through World Music – Crossroads, featuring Embar Kannan, Sathyanarayanan, Sumesh, Krishna Kishore and Mani, will be a combination of Hungarian music, African melody and Spanish and Middle Eastern sounds.
DEC 5:Sufi & The Soul - The soulful strains of Rajasthani Sufi will come alive from the vocals of Mir Mukhtiyar Ali.
DEC 6:Ras Barse - A Hindustani fusion features shehnai ustad Pandit Ballesh and vocalist Krishna Ballesh.
DEC 7:Mannin Manam -- A combination of vocal fusion of Tamil folk and classical ragas will be presented by playback singers Charulata Mani and Velmurugan.
DEC 8:The Universal Flavour of Rasa will see Dr. Ambika Kameswar and her teamshowcase contemporary classical music.
