At the end of a weekend, good or not so good, if someone were to tell you that each day was a gift, I’m almost certain you’d like to ask them where you can return Mondays!
While most of us crib and cry about the Monday Morning Blues, Bollywood music director duo Sachin-Jigar have composed BloodyKhooni Monday , a single from upcoming Hindi movie Go Goa Gone , that has become a raging hit on YouTube. The song has become the most watched song on Monday!
In a telephonic interview, Jigar says: “It feels great to receive such a phenomenal response to the song. The film itself has a mad premise so we were asked by the director to make something heavy yet out of the box. And I think the main reason the song is already so popular is because everyone from the sabziwala to the corporate guy can identify with it and relate to it.”
Given that music directors don’t really have fixed office hours, Jigar says: “When we were given the unconventional brief and told that it was a youth film, we were keen on reading the hilarious script. We wanted to make the song funky and stylish and since people like us hardly know how terrible waking up to a Monday feels like, we gathered the sentiments of our office going friends and then translated their expressed frustrations into music.”
As a director duo, Sachin-Jigar’s versatility ranges from their work in FALTU and Shor in the Cityto Hum Tum Aur Shabana and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya . According to Jigar, “We love making unconventional music. Sometimes critics don’t think we’re being practical. Our well-wishers too wonder why we take chances doing offbeat songs and albums but we are guided by our instincts and do exactly what we believe will work for a particular movie.”
About their music composing process, Jigar explains, “Sachin and I go through the brief with the director, read and get into the script and then think of how the album should sound. We come up with our independent options which are most often very similar but we do have fights when we can’t come to a consensus on something. However, we come around eventually because these are not ego clashes but creative differences between two people.”
He adds: “What makes our job a little less tedious at the same time quite challenging is that today’s directors have a sound knowledge and understanding of music and give very valuable suggestions to the music director. The onus then is on us to deliver something even better than what is expected of us.”
BloodyKhooni MondayABCD Sachin and Jigar have produced one of the most unique and innovative albums for Remo D’Souza’s ABCD – AnyBody Can Dance .
With nine powerful tracks, their experiment with new-age music and Indian beats has done wonders for ABCD .
“We have worked with different genres of music ranging from Punk Rock and Dubstep to Country, Reggae and Hindi music,” Jigar informs. The duo also composed music for the item number by Sonakshi Sinha in Himmatwala .
Looking ahead, Jigar says: “The rest of 2013 looks promising. We have Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story , Ramaiya Vastavaiya and also Ranjan DK’s South film Doppidi already in our kitty.
Go Goa Gone releases on May 10. The music album is already available on Eros/Sony Music.
