VIJAYAWADA: “The story of Srimad Bhagavatham is like nectar and when it is presented to the audience as a musical feature it is all the more sweet,” stated renowned scholar and founder of ‘Rishi Peetham’ Samavedam Shanmukha Sarma while speaking in a function got up by Madhura Bharathi Saraswata Vedika.

The musical feature that followed took place at the Leelavathi Devi Kalyana Mantapam, Vijayawada and the proceedings were inaugurated Sri Maganti Subramanyam, Chairman of Sri Kanchi Kamakothi Peethastha Sri Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam, Vijayawada.

The musical feature titled Bhagavata Katha Gana Sudha that narrated the gist of Bhagavatham in the shape of fine kirtanas composed, directed and also rendered by vidwan Gowrinath and his wife Gayatri.

Excellent instrumental support for the duo was provided by Charumati Pallavi (violin), Sriram Charan (mridangam), K.Sasidhar (Veena) and S.Kumarbabu (flute). Some of the highlights in the musical feature were Sri Hari Charita (Hamsadhvani), Ghora tapamuche ( Prahlada charitra in Athana, Hari Charanankita (the episode of Ksheerasagara Mathanam) in Hindola, Mandi marbalamu (episode of Gajendra Moksham in Athana), Mullokamula (Vamana charitra in Bilahari) and Antayu Nidina (Ambarishopakhyanam) in Hamsanadam. All the kirtanas were rendered with devotional fervour by Gowrinadh and Gayatri.

Superb commentary by erudite scolar Mallapragada Srimannarayana Murthy gave a great boost to the musical feature. The artistes were fittingly honoured by him on behalf of Madhura Bharathi.
