National Kumar Gandharva Award winner and Grammy Nominee World Musician Ranendranath Majumdar, who is popularly known as Ronu Majumdar, needs no introduction. This flautist has incredible range of achievements including innumerable performances in the world’s most prestigious venues such as The Kremlin, Moscow; The Palais de Beaux Arts, Brussels and so on. Besides this, is the fact that he has also been a major innovator with the medium of New-age Music.
He will be performing in Shriram Kala Vedike’s Sangeeta Sudha, an evening of enchanting music to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi on August 23 at the M.S. Ramaiah College Auditorium, BEL Road, Bangalore. There will also be a performance by Reshma Bhat.
Pt. Ronu Majumdar has released a new music album that recently hit stores called “Garland of Ragas” on Worldwide Records. In this album, Majumdar has deftly woven together a fascinating string of ragas. The ragas belong to different time slots. The first three are played or sung in the morning. The fourth and the fifth belong to the late afternoon. The concluding piece is a Hori in raga Kafi, a late night raga. Pandit Ronu Majumdar rendering of these ragas communicates the mood associated with them.
