Vettri Selvan
What it is about…
Shristi Cinemas’ Vettri Selvan is produced and directed by Rudran. The film revolves around a student with a sound knowledge of medicine, a professor and a dancer shunned by society and how they struggle to begin life afresh. The lead players are Ajmal, ‘singer’ Mano, Radhika Apte and Sheriff, the title winner of the Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva on Vijay TV. Mani Sharma has composed the music and Madhan Karky has penned the lyrics. The audio of the film was recently launched at Sathyam Cinemas in the presence of directors Bala, Ameer, Seenu Ramasamy, Neelakantan from Hyderabad and poet Tamizhachi Thangapandian.
Music highlights
There are five songs in the album. ‘Vittu Vittu’ is a lovely number by Rahul Nambiar and Bhargavi Pillai. ‘Megathilae’ has been well-rendered by Shreya Ghoshal. ‘Yenai Yenai’ in the voices of Haricharan and Mahathi appeals, while ‘Deivatha Pola,’ sung by Hemachandran is highly philosophical. ‘Adidas,’ sung by Mano, K.G. Ranjith and Rahul Nambiar, brings the album to a fitting finish.
What they say…
Producer-director Rudran: I have made several ad films and worked as an associate director to Vikram K. Kumar of Yaavarum Nalam fame. While working on that film, I came to know about the lives of those isolated from society. When I finished the screenplay for Vettri Selvan , I felt it had come out well.
Hero Ajmal: After acting in successful films such as Anjathe, Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru and Ko , I felt happy to be doing Vettri Selvan , which, I am sure, will be another success. Once it releases, it will not only get me a good name but also many roles.
Music director Mani Sharma: As a music director, I have composed some hit tunes in films such as Youth, Pokkiri and Shahjahan and I feel this film too will join that list as it has scope for not only good songs but also good background score.
