The Mangalgiri dupatta at Dastkar Andhar.

Dastkar Andhra exhibition, on in the city, showcases saris, dupattas and yardage in diverse designs.

The works of the weavers from various parts of Andhra — Pasalapadi, East Godavari, Ponduru, Srikaikulam and Guntur districts — are woven together to create an inspirational story. The creations combine earthy tones with contemporary patterns.

Dastkar Andhra’s design intervention with the traditional Mangalgiri weaves, which began fifteen years ago, has given it a new identity in terms of colour (vegetable dyes) and texture.

Besides the usual oranges, greens and yellows, refreshing hues and edgy designs with checks and stripes have been introduced.

The ‘ Magic of Mangalgiri: Saris, Yardage and Dupattas’ is presented by DAMA, Dastkar Andhra’s marketing wing.

Also available at the exhibition are natural-dyed khadi and Kalamkari yardage, dupattas and saris. The exhibition is on till August 20, at C.P. Arts Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.
