Isn't it is a fact that while most people in all the States give due importance to their mother tongue, Tamil is neither shared nor taught to the next generation, in Tamil Nadu. This is the only State where a student can finish his entire schooling without knowing the local language.
The recent announcement about ‘Learning through Tamil' made by Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa served as an inspiration to launch a training academy called Thamizh Mozhi Koodam, by Knack Information Technologies as part of its diversification plans. Simultaneously, a social networking site -- >www.thamizhmozhi.com -- went online at Arkay Convention Centre, Mylapore, Chennai.
The academy will teach the Tamil alphabet and spoken Tamil, while helping those who need to prepare speeches, essay competitions and poetry writing in Tamil.
Technology helps
“We are trying to take Tamil to the next generation with the help of the technology” says Srinivas Parthasarathy, the founder of the website.
At the launch, a calendar and CD were released by writer Indira Parthasarathy, the chief guest, and were received by Tirupur Krishnan. Six personalities who have dedicated their life to the cause of the language were honoured on the occasion -- Badri Seshadri of NHM, Veeramani Bharathidasan, the grandson of Bharathidasan, Jayakrishnan, founder of Tamil Ccomputer and Valar Thozhil magazines, Anto Peter, president, Kani Tamizh Sangam, and Vetrivel, a Tamil teacher, who has written a one-line explanation for the Thirukkural.
