The State Department of Art and Culture recently organised cultural programmes at the temporarily set up Summer Beach on the dry bank of the Cauvery in Tiruchi city.

The Nattiya Kalalaya Sujatha troupe from Karur presented a variety of entertaining programmes. The troupe began with ‘Ganapati Kavuthuvam’, which was followed pieces such as ‘Bharatha Samudayam Vaazhgavae.’ The peacock dance was a lively and colourful affair while kummipattu and kolattam lent a folksy touch.

The traditional tappattam and silambattam by the A One Solladi Duff Set of Tiruchi enthralled the locals for more than two hours. The S. Narayanan Orchestra group from Tiruvarur presented a light music concert that featured old Tamil film hits.s
