Sri Krishna Gana Sabha's 54th Art & Dance festival will be inaugurated on December 12, 6 p.m., by Sri. R. Nataraj, IPS, DGP/Director-Fire and Rescue Services, Tamil Nadu.

Dancer Narthaki Nataraj, will be honoured with the ‘Nritya Choodamani' award and Manipuri dancer Darshana Jhaveri of Jhaveri Sisters, with the ‘Aacharya Choodamani.' The award carries a Tamra Patra, a gold medal and a cash prize of Rs.50,000 each. Leela Samson, director, Kalakshetra, and Sudharani Raghupathy of Sri Bharathalaya, would felicitate the awardees.

The month-long festival, to be held from December 12 to Janaury 17, includes music performances of senior, junior and up and coming artists, dance recitals by exponents of various dance forms of India and Namasankirtanam by leading exponents.

Natya Kala conference

The 29th Natya Kala Conference of the Sabha, convened by dancer Ananda Shankar Jayant, will be held for a week from December 26. The 22nd nagaswara isai vizha, being part of the fest will be inaugurated on January 13. Mambalam M.K.S. Siva will be honoured with the ‘Sangita Choodamani' award which carries a gold medallion, a tamra patra and a purse of Rs.50,000.

Spread over five days, (Jan. 13-17), the nagaswaram isai vizha will feature concerts of veteran nagaswara vidwans accompanied by expert thavil players. For further details contact 2814 0806.
