The Hindu Young World quiz — one of the most popular events among school students — is all set to step into its 15th edition.
The quiz has seen the participation of over 20,000 students from 2,500 schools across 19 cities over the last 14 years. This year, it will begin on November 26 at Bengaluru and have a couple of new features. Each city will have a final round and in a few centres, the quiz will also be open to juniors (classes VI to VIII) and sub-juniors (classes III to V).
The sub-junior-level quiz will be held in Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Coimbatore and Madurai. The junior-level event will be held in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi, Salem, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
In cities where both levels are scheduled, the sub-junior event will be held in the morning and the junior-level in the afternoon. It will be hosted by The Hindu ’s in-house quizmaster, V.V. Ramanan, who has been hosting the event since 2000.
A team should consist of two students from the same school and can take part by registering online after paying a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200 per team. There will be a common written preliminary and the top six teams in this round will be selected for the finals.
Winners will receive a bicycle, a trophy and a certificate. The first and second runners-up will receive trophies and certificates. All participants will receive a bag and a certificate.
