The State government has cautioned parents and students to examine whether any advertisement or application issued by a medical college or an association of medical colleges has been made after obtaining permission from the government-constituted committee.

Admission made without obtaining the permission from the committee will not be valid, according to an official release issued on Monday.

The committee was formed in August 2011 to regulate and monitor admission of students to professional courses offered by self-financing minority/non-minority medical and paramedical colleges. Headed by Justice A. Abdul Hadi, the panel is to ensure fair, transparent and non-exploitative admission of students to the professional courses for the seats retained by the private unaided self-financing professional institutions.

Girija Vaidyanathan, Principal Secretary (Health) is the member secretary of the committee. Other members are Mayilvahanan Natarajan, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, K. Ananda Kannan and S.K. Rajan. The caution has been issued in the context of an advertisement inserted by the D.D. Medical College, Tiruvallur, in a daily last week.
