C.N. Ramachandran delivered a lecture.

Seminar: The Kannada Department of the Government College for Women, Kolar, recently organised a seminar based on optional Kannada textbooks. Inaugurating it, eminent critic C.N. Ramachandran delivered a lecture on concepts of reviews. He spoke on the aspect of every literary work having the influence of one or the other works. However, the reading and creative capacity of a writer cannot be demeaned, he said.

Krishnamurthy Hanur spoke on folk epics while M.G. Chandrashekaraiah delivered a lecture on Indian story literature. V. Chandrashekhar Nagali spoke on re-look into Kuvempu literature. College Principal Anjanappa presided over the seminar.

Selected: ‘Baaramma Bhagirathi’, a play presented by the first year B.Com students of Rockvalley College of Science and Management Studies, Kolar, won the first prize in the district-level College Rangotsava held at T. Chennaiah Rangamandira here recently. It qualified for the State-level contest. R. Muniswamy had directed the play which shed light on the acute water shortage problem in the region and created awareness of wise use of water.

Literary club: Writer Wazid Banu inaugurated the Literary and Cultural Club of the Kannada Department at the Government First Grade College, Vemagal.

He delivered a lecture on the life and writings of Da.Ra. Bendre.

Presiding over the programme, College Principal R.S. Narendra said Da.Ra. Bendre has dedicated his life for the cause of literature.
