Christmas holidays are spent beneficially by some college students.

Kritthika N., III year, B.Com - MOP Vaishnav College for Women I am eagerly looking forward to the holidays. Apart from pursuing B.Com, I am pursuing Chartered Accountancy. I have just finished my exams and now, all I plan to do is relax and catch up on things that I had put on hold. To begin with, I want to continue taking up music lessons. I have been learning music for quite a while now, but had to put classes on hold as I had to study for my exams. I have a penchant for cooking and baking. So, I am also considering signing up for cooking classes. Apart from this, I will be going on a trip to Kerala with my family.

Ben Milton, III year, B.A. English - Madras Christian College This will be the last vacation I will have as after this, I am done with my undergraduation and will be pursuing higher studies. I intend to make the most of these holidays and catch up on movies. I plan to spend a major chunk of my time hanging out with my friends and partying. A family trip to Pune is also in the offing.

Rohini M.K., III year, B.A. English- Women's Christian College I will be spending a considerable part of time on doing research for my final-year thesis. My thesis requires quite a bit of reading to be done and I am hoping to get a good amount of work done before I get back to college for the start of the new term. Apart from this, I plan to study for my entrance examinations for Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Hyderabad University and a few other colleges. I’m excited that I will be going home to Thiruvananthapuram and catching up with my family and friends.

Kurt Coyne, III year, B.A. English - Loyola College Usually, Christmas vacation for me is a series of get-togethers, attending weddings, hanging out with friends and spending time with my family. This year, however, things are going to be very different. As part of academic requirement from college, students are expected to train as interns for a month and I am scheduled to start my internship this month. So, partying is off the cards as I will be spending most of the days at work.

Akshaya Jayashankar, III year, B.Com - MOP Vaishnav College for Women As much as I am looking forward to unwinding in the holidays and taking a well-deserved break, I cannot afford to take it very easy. One reason for this is that I have my internal exams starting right after the term begins. Apart from B.Com, I am pursuing a course from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountancy (ACCA).

So, I intend spending my time preparing for the upcoming exams. As I am in the final year of B.Com, I will also be looking out for employment opportunities. I am extremely excited about going back home to Kochi and spending time with my family. I do not get to see them very often because I am a hostelite.
