Rao and Naidu Engineering College students in Ongole on Wednesday put on display innovative projects providing engineering solutions to everyday problems faced by common people. Farmers who get power for energising their farm pump sets at odd times can switch on the electric motor with a mobile phone from his home itself with a model developed by a group of students.
Another model developed by students helps detect leak of LPG gas in the house.
Fire fighting robot, hand glove-controlled wheel chair, intelligent autonomous six-legged robot to operate in uneven surfaces, path following robot and pick and place robot were among the other models developed by the students of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
The ‘Project expo’ was organised on the occasion of inauguration of the R & D cell by Taluku Circle Inspector I.Srinivasan, himself a mechanical engineer, in the campus to promote Research & Development activities by students and faculty.
The R &D cell was set up to enable students and faculty keep abreast with latest technological developments and come out with innovative projects for the benefit of the society and at the same time lead to improvement in academic progress, Principal P.S.V.Srinivasa Rao said.
The cell, headed by D. Tirupati Naidu, is envisaged to provide all needed facilities to students and faculty to do basic and applied research in science, engineering and management, college Dean S.Saibaba said.
This activity would improve the teaching learning process in the college, said noted educationist P. H. G. Krishna Raju.
