VIT University, Chennai, recently organised the third ‘National Plasma Scholars’ Colloquium' and a national workshop on ‘Exploring Plasma Technology for Material Processing’.
Dr. Dhiraj Bora, Director, Institute of Plasma Research (IPR), Ahmedabad, Prof. Y. Nakamura from Yokohama University, Japan, Dr. G. Viswanathan, Chancellor, Ms. Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Assistant vice-president, Dr. Anand A. Samuel, Pro vice-chancellor, VIT University, Chennai were at the inaugural function.
Eminent speakers, scientists and senior professors from IIT Madras, SINP Kolkata, Institute for Plasma Research, Ahmedabad, Facilitation Centre for Industrial Plasma Technologies, and other neighbouring countries such as Nepal and Bangla Desh were also present.
Prof. Dhiraj Bora, in his speech, said that young researchers were needed to carry the baton of research in the field of plasma technology.
Dr. G. Viswanathan stated that India is making great progress and it is the right time to spend on research so that we can compete with developed nations such as the United States of America and Japan.
Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Assistant vice-president, VIT Chennai, said that internationally science is waning but in India it is on the rise.
The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Arun K Sarma and Prof. Bornali Sarma.
