I am in Class XII Science stream and would like to know whether Clark's tables are allowed for the final exams. And for which all subjects are they allowed?
Clarks Tables/Logarithmic Tables are allowed for the Board examinations in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Is it possible to change the present school if I opt for school-based exam for Class X?
Yes, if you are not moving out of the CBSE. Students opting for school-conducted SA II can move out of the school and seek admission in the school of their choice based on the performance reflected in the school-based assessment certificate and the admission policy of the school.
My son studied in a Dubai school and he studied three languages — English, Malayalam and Arabi. Now we have moved to Qatar and the school authorities say Hindi is a compulsory language for Class VIII. Is it true that he has to pass the Hindi exam? Why different CBSE rules for different countries?
In CBSE-affiliated schools it is expected that all students would have studied three languages up to Class VIII. Those who are unable to clear the third language at the end of Class VIII and promoted to Class IX shall be examined by the schools concerned at the end of Class IX in the same syllabus and textbooks as prescribed for Class VIII. Further, if a student is unable to clear the third language at the end of Class IX, he/she may be given an opportunity in Class X. Hindi and English must be two of the three languages to be studied. Hindi and English must have been studied at least up to Class VIII.
I would like to know whether a student can use the basic calculator in the exam. State-run schools allow the same.
Use of calculator is not allowed in CBSE examinations.
I am a Class X Kendriya Vidyalaya student. Is solving textbook exercises enough for HOT questions? I would also like to know about the admission criteria for Class XI in Kendriya Vidyalaya.
HOTS stands for Higher Order Thinking Skills. Accordingly, the questions need some applications on the concepts learned. Questions will be based on the syllabus given in the CBSE Curriculum document 2012 for March 2012 Board Examination.
The admission criteria till Class XI is decided by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
In the Probability chapter for Class X (mathematics), there are some questions regarding pack of cards. Should we include ‘ACE' as a face card?
In questions relating to pack of cards, ACE is not considered as a face card.
I have a basic doubt about the divisions and classifications of various educational systems in India, especially in Tamil Nadu, such as Anglo Indian, CBSE, matric, State Board; Samacheer Kalvi, etc. How does each one function and differ from the other? As a parent what should I opt for for the better future of my ward?
These are interalia , to take care of diversity of the country. You may choose depending upon your choice. Also refer to different curricula offered by these systems. CBSE curriculum is available on the CBSE website, www.cbse.nic.in.
