The water crisis, encroachment and the lack of lung space in New Colony were among the pressing issues that came up for discussion at the 34th general body meeting of the Chromepet New Colony Residents’ Welfare Society.
Resolutions including laying of underground drainage lines in Ezhumalai Nagar, Chromepet, re-laying of battered roads in Mahalakshmi Colony, ensuring regular supply of Palar water, restricting parking of two-wheelers on pavements at the entrance of 14, 15, and 16 Cross Streets, repairing the traffic signal at the junction of Sixth Cross Street – Grand Southern Trunk Road, and deployment of traffic personnel at MIT crossing point were passed by the members. Annual General Body Meeting of The Chromepet New Colony Residents’ Welfare Society was held recently. The meeting was presided by the president of the Society, V. Santhanam. K. Subramanian, secretary, read the annual report. V. Purushothaman, treasurer, read, and submitted the annual income, and expenditure statement report.

On the occasion, the Society also honoured 10 Standard X and XII board exam toppers from Government-aided schools. Pallavaram MLA P. Dhansingh felicitated the toppers. The Society awarded each of them a cash prize of Rs. 1,000, along with a medal.
The Nehru Nagar Madhar Sangam, Chromepet, presented a special cash award of Rs. 3,000 to P. Rahul on compassionate grounds.
