Hariharan Iyer (42) plans his Diwali gift box months in advance. As a sweet and confectionaries seller operating from his home, this is the festival he eagerly waits for.

He learnt to make lip-smacking sweets from his father and the family has been in the business for 25 years. “As a kid, I would watch him cook. The way he measured, sieved, handled the ingredients and gave instructions to the staff, I observed every detail. When I took over, running the business came naturally to me,” says Hariharan, who is visibly excited about the speciality this year.

He says: “Our special gift box will include badusha, guava cake, mysore pak and a special mixture, all for Rs. 350 a kg.”

Hariharan has 15 employees who help him with the preparations. “This year, we will start working from October 20. We are expecting orders from over 200 customers. Though we take orders for other festivals too, we are popular for Diwali sweets,” says Hariharan.

He is offering free home delivery this time. “A person ordering 10 kg and above can avail the offer. We also take orders for other festivals and occasion, but charge for home delivery.”

Hariharan functions from his residence at Old No. 39, New Number 95, A-2 Srinivas Apartments, Adam Street, Mylapore. Contact: 944443426.
