Eight months ago, residents of Nanganallur, Pazhavanthangal, Alandur and Adambakkam submitted petitions for obtaining ‘patta’ for land documents under the Assured Maximum Service to Marginalised People in All villages (AMMA Scheme) in a special camp for obtaining land documents. However, they are yet to get the documents.

Though the areas, Adambakkam, Pazhavanthangal, St. Thomas Mount and Nanganallur, fall under the limits of Chennai Corporation (Zone 12), they do not come under the jurisdiction of Chennai District Collectorate.

For obtaining the documents, the residents need to approach only the Kancheepuram District Collectorate as the areas are still under that jurisdiction.

“The issue should be given prior importance and we must be given the documents as early as possible. More than 200 people have applied and only 20 have got the documents so far,” the residents said.

“We are not satisfied with the way things are progressing. Also, the process should be quicker and more efficient. . The State government has come up with the initiative of issuing ‘patta’ documents online, thereby putting an end to fake transactions. But, the question here is when will the documents be issued,” residents asked.

They hope the authorities concerned will take action, keeping in mind the welfare of the applicants.
