Whenever S. Kumar comes to the Chromepet bus stop, he stands in the opposite side. It is not just him, but many other commuters do the same thing to avoid the sweltering heat.

“The bus-stop has a well-maintained shelter. It would be good if the authorities concerned put up a protection sheets on the sides.

To avoid the heat, people stand in the opposite side, and jump over to this side, when they see their bus numbers coming. The seats are full of dirt,” commuters said.

“We are exposed to the scorching heat from the sides. On the opposite side, the bus stop has proper shades and seating arrangement,” commuters added.

“Sometimes, it takes somewhere between fifteen minutes and half-an-hour for our respective buses to come.

On such occasions, the heat becomes extremely difficult to bear. The situation is worse for senior citizens, children and women,” said R. Sangeetha, a commuter.

They demanded the authorities concerned look into the problem, come up with a solution at the earliest, and deploy a bus bay keeper who would prevent private vehicles from entering the bay when the service lane (on the Western Side of Grand Southern Trunk Road) is clogged with indiscriminate parking of vehicles. There is an order not to park the vehicles there.
