Twenty four-year-old Janak Dave did not like the idea of joining the family business. What he liked doing the most was cooking pasta. He experimented with flavours whenever he found the time. His family and friends loved what he cooked and he decided to explore the food business. In 2013, he started ‘Fusilli Reasons’, a kiosk at Goplapuram, near DAV School.
“We served three kinds of pastas, ginger bread, nachos and iced tea. It started off in a small way. I managed to get some loyal clients,” says Janak, who is yet to complete his graduation. He is however happy he has found his true calling.
The dishes served are his own, simple yet yummy. “The base is the same and the pasta sauces are prepared after a lot of experimenting. It started with trying different flavours on the good-old Maggie and then I tried out new things.”
The kiosk gave him the base to build a brand name. So when he had to shut the kiosk, he was still receiving inquiries. Janak has now opened a boutique restaurant in Kilpauk. “I used to cook at the kiosk. Here, I have hired people to help me out. We have retained the old menu but plan to add new dishes,” he says.
His plan is to open more Fusilli Reasons .
Fusilli Reasons is located at 1/9, Dr. Vasudevan Street, Ormes Road, Kilpauk.
