Rendavathu Padam

What it is about…

Screencrafts Entertainments’ Rendavathu Padam is produced by Dharani. The story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by C.S. Amuthan, whose first film, Thamizh Padam, was a huge hit. Like his earlier film, Rendavathu Padam will also have a generous dose of comedy. Vimal, Richard, Aravind Akash, Ramya Nambeesan, Vijayalakshmi, Sanjana, Suresh, Bose Venkat, Chethan and Iman Annachi are playing important roles. Vijay Ulaganathan has handled the camera; Kannan has scored the music; Santhanam has taken care of the art; Dileep Subarayan, stunts; and T. Suresh, editing. Director K.V. Anand released the first audio CD and it was received by actor Siddarth.

Music highlights

There are four songs in the album, of which ‘Roja Poo,’ sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam and Chitra in ragas Hamsadwani and Kalyani, is easily the best. Written by Karky, this melody transports us to the Eighties, when Ilaiyaraja reigned supreme in the Tamil movie music field. ‘Kuppai Thotti,’ by the same lyricist and sung by Hariharan and Ujjayinee Roy, is another good number. ‘Adutha Paruppu,’ sung by Vijay Prakash, Velmurugan and Mukesh, has lines by Na. Muthukumar. The same lyricist’s ‘Aappu Birthday’ is sung by Rahul Nambiar, Velmurugan and Mukesh.

What they say…

Producer Dharani: I am a film distributor. But as I was keen on producing a film, I approached director Amuthan who readily agreed to helm it. Rendavathu Padam has come out well.

Director C.S. Amuthan: I am an engineer-turned-filmmaker. I was into advertising. When Thamizh Padam, my first film, released, the very first phone call I received was from distributor Dharani who appreciated my effort. He told me it would be a hit at the box office. After my debut flick, I got many offers, but when Dharani expressed his desire to do a film, I happily took it up.

Hero Vimal:Rendavathu Padam will show me in a new light. So far, cine goers have seen me essay only rustic roles, but in this, I play a video jockey. The city-based role has given me ample scope to show my talent. The character I play lives in a mansion in Triplicane and it’s the things that happen in his life that make the film interesting.

Music director Kannan: This is my fourth film and I am working on half a dozen more. Rendavathu Padam has some beautiful songs and the director has given me enough space to fill with my re-recording.
