Director Balaji Tharaneetharan

I was quite surprised to see Balaji Tharaneetharan for the first time. For a young director who made a successful black comedy, he looked quite simple and what’s more, was wearing an 80s look!

I noticed a cut on his face, and we got around to talking. He kept me in splits throughout, being the natural storyteller that he is.

Interestingly, he wanted to be a cricketer. “But my team won nothing under my captaincy; my hope of becoming the next Azharuddin was stumped.”

He spoke on several topics, including college life and his abysmal drawing skills, after opening up. For such a quirky man, I realised that my photograph had to be different too. And what better idea than to depict him, along the lines of his blockbuster, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom.
