How it happened
Consciously! I’ve always admired actors, and, even as a child, I’d dreamt of becoming one. My uncle in Hyderabad was friends with many film directors, and one of them agreed to cast me in a Telugu film. On one condition, though — I will not be paid. I agreed at once, for I was never driven by money. And, then came Kaadhalil Vizhundhen .
How it felt
Mixed feelings — of happiness, fear, and nervousness, for I know the struggle I went through. But, once Kaadhalil… released, I realised I’d won many hearts. The audience are affectionate, and treat me as a family member. In fact, a fan even flew to Hyderabad from Chennai, just to meet me. All this makes me realise my responsibilities and that I must give my best, to live up to their expectations. Of course, there are moments when I wonder if I am worthy of all this attention and love...
How life changed
Completely. Thankfully, my parents and sister keep me grounded. Following Kaadhalil… , Maasilaamani released. Yaadhumaahi will release shortly, and I’ve begun the work for Thiruthani . After being down with viral fever for two months, I’m back. And, all ready to take on the challenges.
