Jaladi Raja Rao remains immortal through his works as a writer, poet and especially as a lyricist.
His works as a lyricist for Telugu film Palleseema in 1950, saw him emerge as a very popular cine lyricist encompassing a variety of social, folk, patriotic, philosophical, romantic themes which won the hearts of all sections of people, because of his authentic usage and grip over popular vocabulary in almost all regional dictions in Telugu. He was also a name to remember for his novels like Viswamohini and Kaakulamma , followed by full and short plays like Amarajeevi , Thandri , Samaadhi and Kaarumeghalu .
It was no wonder that awards and titles like Best Writer, Kalasagara, Navarasa Kavi Samrat and so on from Vijayawada Cultural Association in 1957, Twin Cities in 1970, Madras in 1987 and Cine Herald in the same year, Nandi of the Government of A.P. in 1990 were conferred upon him.
He was also honoured with Kalaaprapoorna by Andhra University (AU) in 2008. He also had the honour of getting appointed as a member of the Awards Committee of AU and Potti Sreeramulu Telugu university. Jaladi Raja Rao was born on August 9 in 1932 at Gudiwada in Krishna district. He was the fourth son of the couple Emmanuel and Ammajamma . Raja Rao passed SSLC examination and started his career as a drawing teacher at the District Board High School.
