Big break for Parvathy Nair, Kamal fan and an actor with a few Southern films under her belt. Now, the actor has got a role in Kamal’s next film Uttama Villain. Directed by Ramesh Aravind, the movie has Parvathy playing the love interest of Kamal’s on-screen son, played by newcomer Ashwin.
“We're currently shooting a schedule in Bangalore,” says Parvathy, “It's been a learning experience so far, with Kamal sir enacting most of my scenes and patiently explaining the kind of expressions they want. The scenes I'm shooting for now are part of a cute love angle in the film.”
Uttama Villain already has a stellar cast, with actors like Jayaram and director K. Balachander playing vital roles.
While Kamal is a big draw among fans for his versatility, younger actors like Parvathy look up to him for guidance and support.
“Though he guides you, he lets you do your lines and scenes your way. So I felt at ease with him on the set,” she adds.
How did she land this role? “Though the makers liked my pictures and felt that I would be apt for the role, they had a screen test. In that, I had to prove that I could really get into the skin of the character. Both Kamal sir and Ramesh Aravind, our director, were impressed with what they saw and that’s how it happened.”
Like most filmi stories, her tryst with tinsel town happened quite by chance. “It was primarily due to my modelling career. Also, I’d won Miss Navy Queen in Kerala and had a few ads running on television. The first few projects happened through friends and family… and now, I’m enjoying every moment on the set,” she states.
With projects like D-Company and Poppins in Malayalam, Parvathy looks forward to meaty roles in Kollywood. “I’d love to do a difficult and challenging role… that would be a lot of fun!”
