Deepavali is just round the corner. But there’s still confusion as to the number of festival releases. As Deepavali falls on a Tuesday this year (usually films release on a Friday), there are some makers who are hesitant about releasing their films on this day. Ajantha was released on Friday and Thuppaki is set to hit the screens on November 13. In fact, e-booking for Thuppakki was opened in a city theatre for half a day and closed as the film was re-scheduled for release on Deepavali day. As we go to press, there are four films set for release, but there’s always a chance that any film in the cans could come up for release on D-Day. A look at the line-up:
Thuppakki
Director: A.R. Murugadoss
Cast: Vijay, Kajal Agarwal, Sathyan, Vidyut Jamwal, Manobala and Jayaram in a guest appearance.

Director’s cut: It is an action-packed film in which Vijay plays an army officer based in Mumbai. With Vijay and Kajal Agarwal in the lead, viewers can expect some peppy dance sequences and intense romantic scenes. With Santosh Sivan wielding the camera, one can expect a visual treat. Cine goers will not be disappointed as the film is a mixture of comedy, action, sentiment and dialogues with punch.
Poda Podi

Director’s cut: Poda Podi is a love story shot in London. The songs are already chart-busters. As the subject is dance, there are eight foot-tapping tracks in the movie. I was very particular that the visuals must be appealing. I am sure viewers will enjoy it.

Director’s cut: I’ve filmed the novel I wrote in 2008. As nobody came forward to do my role in the film, I decided to play it myself. After directing eight films, including Azhagi, Pallikoodam and Onbathu Rubai Nootu , I am coming out with a gripping film, which is sure to make the viewer ponder about his mother. A moving tale of a mother and son, Ammavin Kaipesi has an interesting climax.

Director’s cut: The story is about organ theft. The film is so well-crafted that it will make people think about the issue. The message has been conveyed in an entertaining manner. What’s more, Kaasikuppam will be an eye-opener to those involved in this crime.
