First-time director Sinish’s Endrendrum has an interesting aspect — director Gautam Vasudev Menon has lent his voice for the film’s introduction. “Gautam Menon not only readily agreed to do it, but came to the dubbing theatre on his own and even complimented me on the film,” says a visibly excited Sinish. Endrendrum was conceived as a telefilm, but, as it progressed, Sunish felt it had the potential to be a feature film. So, he roped in Sathish (of Manada Mayilada fame) and Priyanka Reddy for the lead roles and re-wrote the script. The film is now getting ready for release.

Charting a new territory

He cut his teeth on music composition as a keyboard player in music director Vidyasagar’s team. Aruldev introduced himself as an independent composer in the Sadagopan Ramesh-starrer Patta Patti 50:50. Subsequently, he scored music for Paari and the yet-to-be-released Paakanumpole Irukku and Nagarapuram. In Nagarapuram, a song penned by Na. Muthukumar, ‘Mazhaye Mazhaye’ sung by Alaap Raju has become a rage. Another by Yugabarathy and sung by Karthik has been steadily climbing the popularity charts. Says Aruldev, “On the music site reverbnation, the album is already at number two. This, even before the official launch of the audio!”

Exploring emotions

After dabbling with the story and screenplay for many films, Nambirajan is now all set to launch his own directorial venture, Sankarapuram. Actor Harikumar (of Thoothukudi and Madurai Sambavam fame) plays an IPS officer in Sankarapuram. Said to be based on real-life incidents, the film explores the relationships between father and son, husband and wife, brother and sister, and uncle and nephew, highlighting emotions and love in different textures.

Buddies or foes?

Following Kazhugu, actor Krishna stars in director Rajamohan’s Vanavarayan Vallavarayan. Playing his brother is M.K.P. Anand. An important role is played by Santhanam. Providing the glam quotient is Monal Gajjar. A rom-com, the film is believed to showcase the relationship between the brothers too. Says Rajamohan, “The brothers are inseparable. But what is unique is that, while they cannot stay away from each other even for a minute, they get into arguments if they are together for more than 10 minutes.”
