This is the tale of a dysfunctional family, where all the members get together to stake claim to the property of their dying father. It reminds one of that popular advertisement where a drop of water spoils the plans of a rapacious son after he forcibly gets the signature of his bedridden father on his will. Director Ritesh Menon has used loud characters and exaggerated situations to put the theme of human greed across.
The good thing is that he has got talented actors like Shilpa Shukla and Swanand Kirkire, who make an effort to make you empathise with these materialistic souls. Ritesh gives them back stories which suggest that their present state is rooted in the unhealed wounds of childhood. However, apart from some acute observations and a few acerbic lines that highlight the increasing materialism in the society, the film fails to bring anything fresh to the table.
After showing signs of digging into the innards of middle class family values by putting a gay couple and an item girl from a rural background in the mix, Ritesh resorts to the safety of slapstick and happy ending, and when one begins to see the Priyadarshan-like family hungama from a distance, the craziness begins to wane.
