Durai Raj, choreography by Dinesh and stunts by Super Subburayan. Actor Dhanush released the audio CD and director A.R. Murugadoss received it.

Music highlights

There are nine songs in the album of which three are repeated in karaoke version. ‘Oodhaa kalaru’ sung by Hariharasudhan and ‘Indha ponnungalae’ sung by Jayamoorthy are sure to win the hearts of listeners. ‘Pakaadhae pakaadhae’ sung by Vijay Yesudas and A.V. Pooja is melodious. The title number, ‘Varuthapadatha vaalibar sangam,’ sung by Sivakarthikeyan, Anthony Dasan and Kovilpatti Amali, has come out well — the credit for bringing out Sivakarthikeyan’s talent as a singer should go to the music director Imman. ‘Yennada Yennada’ is a good song sung by Shreya Ghoshal, Sooraj Santhosh and Shweta Suresh. The last one is a repeat of the song ‘Indha ponnungalae in dubstep remix.

What they say…

Producer P. Madan: This is my sixth film after Vinnaithandi Varuvaya, Nadunisi Naigal, Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai, Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga and Desingu Raja . Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam is a comedy-cum-family entertainer. The highlights of the film are the sequences featuring Sivakarthikeyan, Sathyaraj and Suri, and the music.

Director Ponram: I worked with director S.A. Chandrasekaran when director Rajesh M. was also part of the team. When Rajesh subsequently directed his own film, I joined him. I worked with him on all his films. When I told him this story, he said he liked it and that he would write the dialogue for the film. I can’t thank him enough for my debut movie. In this laugh riot, there are two teams ever at loggerheads — one headed by Sivakarthikeyan and the other by Sathyaraj. Besides, it’s high on family sentiment.

Hero Sivakarthikeyan: When I heard the story, I was convinced how entertaining the film would turn out to be. I was observing the reaction of the recording specialists while dubbing was going on. They laughed every time they saw it. I have also sung a song in the film and now I know how tough it is to sing. It took two days for me to sing the first pallavi, but it was music director Imman who coaxed me to sing.

Music director D. Imman: I think it is the season for comedy entertainers and Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam is sure to make everyone laugh. A comedy film is doubly challenging for the music director, as it requires creating music that enhances the mood in situational comedy and doesn’t drown the dialogue.
