Produced by Jayakumar, Ravikumar and Venkatramanan, Purple Vision’s Sutrula is about a couple who fall in love and elope because their relationship is not accepted by their families. While on the run, they get anonymous calls, and soon some of their friends too disappear.

The story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Rajesh Alfred. The cast comprises Richard, N. Mithun, Prajan, Singanmuthu, Nellai Siva, Tenali, Sriji, Ankitha, Sandra, Anjali Devi, J. Lalitha and Johan Karthik. The camera is handled by Ravisamy, the music is scored by Bharani, the stunts choreographed by Gajani Kubendran, and editing is by G.Sasikumar.

The audio CD of the film was released by producer R.B.Choudry and the first copy received by none other than actor Sarath Kumar in the presence of Kalaipuli S. Thanu, producer V. Ramadas, actor Arun Vijay and director Ezhil.

There are four tracks in the album. Based on the raga Natabhairavi, ‘la la la la Sutrula’ written by Annamalai and sung by Aalapraj and Padmalatha is interesting. It has a peculiar rhythm and is full of energy. ‘Minnal Minnalaai’, written by Snehan and sung by Sreeram Parthasarathi and Divya Menon is a romantic duet, composed in a western style. What’s good about the song is that the music does not drown the lyrics. The guitar enhances the sweetness of the song.

‘Yaaro Yaaro written by the same lyricist and sung by music director himself can be termed the best number on the album. Based on raga Natabhairavi, this melody strikes a note of pathos and is sure to appeal to listeners. ‘Alai Alai Paesi’, written by Vivega and sung by Priya Hemesh, will keep listeners dancing with its catchy tune and pacy rhythm.

Producer Jayakumar, Ravikumar and Venkatramanan: We are in the real estate and construction business and producing a movie was not even remotely on our agenda, until we heard the script of Sutrula from director Rajesh Alfred. The shooting is over and we are sure of the film will succeed at the box office.

Director Rajesh Alfred: I completed my DFT in 2001 and received the Best Student of the Year Award from veteran film director S. P. Muthuraman. I had done many commercials and Sutrula marks my directorial debut. It is a love thriller involving a 75-day shoot in a forest. This posed several challenges and risks which I enjoyed facing.

Hero Richard: Director Rajesh Alfred approached me with a strong script, something I had been waiting for. I loved working with the Sutrula team mainly because everyone put in so much effort to ensure the success of the film. I had to portray a cruel character who would instantly strike fear in my audience, and yet win their acceptance with my performance in the climax. I believe the strong script is the film’s success.

Music director Bharani: Till date, I have composed the music for more than 27 movies, of which Periyanna, Parvai Onre Podume, Charlie Chaplin, Sundara Travels and Style were hits. I think my upcoming films such as Sutrula and Aani and a couple of other films in Tamil and Telugu will also be successful.
