What it is about
A plum job, a lavish lifestyle and a what’s-wrong-about-paying-a-bribe attitude… all this defines Mani, the protagonist. What happens when he loses his job and worst of all, why is he chased by two anti-social elements? This is the premise of Cameo Films’ Damaal Dumeel, produced by C. J. Jayakumar and written and directed by Shree.
Vaibhav and Remya Nambeesan play the lead with Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sayaji Shinde, Mano Bala and Charlie in key roles. The crew comprises Thaman S S (music), A M Edwin Sakay (cinematography), Paramesh Krishna (editing) and Arusamy (art). The audio was released by producers Keyar and T. Shiva and received by directors Venkat Prabhu and Seenu Ramaswamy.
What they say…
Producer C. J. Jayakumar: As founder and creative head of Cameo Films, I have produced more than 100 commercials. Now, I have moved on to producing feature films.
Director Shree: After working on several advertisement films, I joined as an assistant to director Shankar when he was making Endhiran . Damaal Dumeel marks my directorial debut. I hope the film does well.
Hero Vaibhav Reddy: I am the son of popular Telugu film director A. Kodandarami Reddy. I made my film debut in 2007 with Godava in Telugu under my father’s direction. Then I acted in Saroja, Goa and Mankatha directed by Venkat Prabhu. My upcoming films in Telugu are Anamika , a remake of the Bollywood hit Kahaani and Udayam with Varun Sandesh. This is the first time I play the solo hero.
Music director S. S. Thaman: I was first seen as an actor in director Shankar’s Boys. I gained experience working under composers Rajkoti, M. M. Keeravani, Vandemataram Srinivas, Chakri, R. P. Patnaik, Devi Sri Prasad and Mani Sharma. I have composed music for nearly 75 movies, including 35 in Tamil. Look out for the song rendered by Remya Nambeesan in Damaal Dumeel , which is one of the highlights of the film.
Music Highlights: There are five numbers in soundtrack. ‘Dumeel,’ sung by the vibrant Usha Uthup and written by Karunakaran, wins hands down. ‘Pogadhae Pogadhae,’ rendered by actor-singer Remya Nambeesan and written by Thamarai, is a pleasant listen. ‘Saga Saga’ follows in the voices of Naveen Madhav and Andrea Jeremiah. Written by Karky, it’s a breezy track. ‘Odi Odi,’ written by Na. Muthukumar and sung by Shankar Mahadevan, is lively — a repeat-worthy number. The album comes to a close with the theme music.
